1. 1. Heavy Events: These are probably the most iconic events at the Highland Games. They include traditional feats of strength such as: Caber Toss: Competitors throw a large wooden pole (the caber) and try to flip it end over end.
      • – Stone Put: Similar to shot put, but with a large stone instead of a metal ball.
      • – Weight Over Bar: Competitors toss a weight over a raised bar using a pitchfork-like implement. (we don’t offer this, it’s a bit dangerous for first-timers!!)
      • – Weight Throw: Involves throwing a weight for distance.
   2. Highland Dancing: This is a traditional style of Scottish dance that involves intricate footwork and often tells stories through choreography. Dancers often wear kilts and special dance shoes.
   3. Pipe Band Competitions: Bagpipe bands compete in various categories, showcasing their musical talents and traditional Scottish tunes.
   4. Track and Field Events: Besides the heavy events, there are regular track and field events such as sprints, long jumps, and high jumps.
   5. Tug-of-War: Teams compete in this classic test of strength, trying to pull the opposing team across a line.
   6. Clan Gatherings: Highland Games often include gatherings of Scottish clans, where people can learn about their heritage and history.
   7. Food and Music: The games also celebrate Scottish food, music, and culture. You'll find a variety of traditional Scottish dishes and plenty of live music and entertainment.

With their conference being in Scotland this year, they thought that the highland games was a great theme.  The venue was the Barcelo Carlton, which does not have any adjoining fields, so indoor highland games it was!

As the group was predominantly ladies, we geared the activities for them.

In their 2.5 hours they

• Learnt how to dress in an old style kilt, with supervision from 2 hairy warriors.
• Made a pair of earrings in the jewellery workshop.
• Learnt the basics of Mixology, and made themselves a whisky cocktail.
• Learnt how to play the bagpipes
• Had a highland fling and ceilidh dancing taster course to help with their gala dinner dancing!

With such a diverse range of Scottish activities, the guests all left feeling like they had picked up some very useful skills and information, at the same time as mixing with a great spectrum of Scottish culture.  Clan warriors, Pipe major, highland dancers, Scottish silversmith, one of Edinburghs top cocktail mixologists.

We also provided:

2 pipers for the groups formal evenings, at The Caves, and Edinburgh Castle.

1 VIP kilt outfit for the director of the company, who wanted to dress traditionally on the final evening.
