Visit Scotland’s largest business to business event, Expo, was held at the SECC in Glasgow this week. Hundreds of destination management companies, professional conference makers, tour companies and journalists descended on Glasgow to meet the very best that Scotland has to provide.  Venues, service providers and destination management companies exchanged ideas and contacts with the delegates.

Reel Time Events were asked to work alongside Event Scotland to help put a Scottish flavour on the evening networking event, Scotland in the City, for the 1000 VIP guests attending.

Speaking at the event were Visit Scotland chairman Mike Cantley and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau chairman George Mathison.  Roddy Deans (Director of Reel Time Events) compèred the evening while guests enjoyed a range of Scottish fayre as a taster ahead of 2015, Scotland’s year of food and drink.

The Reel Time Band provided some rocking ceilidh music for the delegates to enjoy and dance to. The ceilidh dance floor was packed to capacity with enthusiastic newcomers to the culture.

‘I really enjoyed the Scottish music with a modern touch’ commented one of the hosted buyers.

Also performing in the evening were Clanadonia, a Celtic band with bagpipes and tribal drums, who got the audience roused with their performance.

The event was a great success, with the Reel Time brand of Scottish event and entertainment showcased on the stage in front of the best companies within Scotland’s Events Industry. One delegate commented:

“It is great to be entertaining in Glasgow’s merchant square, which is going to be part of the hub for this year’s Commonwealth Games, as well as a host of other high profile events during 2014.”
