We debuted 2 New Branded Pop Up Bars!

What better way to say good bye to dry January than with a mobile bar on the 1st of February!

We were delighted to be helping out at a fantastic Amazon event in Edinburgh city centre. We provided two of our 2-metre Pop-Up Great Gatsby Themed Mobile Bars.

The event was held at the National Museum of Scotland, a beautiful setting for any event. It was a grand event for a grand occasion, celebrating the staffs’ hard work over the Christmas period. The glamour of it all was reminiscent of the 1920s Jazz Age so well represented in the Great Gatsby. So our Art-Deco style Pop-Up Bars were a perfect addition to the event.

Reel Time Events has had a busy and varied year in 2014, and as it’s the end of the year, we would like to share some of our highlights from across the year.

Our corporate events and conferences have been as busy as ever, and in partnership with some of the best conference centers and 5 star venues in Scotland, we have had the pleasure of entertaining a great many delegates from a number of the world’s leading companies and organisations.  From Burns night with the Reel Time Band and highland dancers at Stirling Castle to highland games at Merchant Square for SUI, Reel Time Events has immersed delegates from far and wide in the spirit and traditions of Scotland while providing a contemporary and innovative twist.

Providing a full entertainment program to help Best Western Hotels “make the magic happen” at its conference at Glasgows Science Center, Reel Time Events arranged a variety of performers, including The Reel Time Band and The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, fire performers, magicians and stilt walkers across the 2 evenings.  The drinks reception, including whisky cocktails were provided by Reel Time Bars, and there was also a Scottish-made chocolate workshop, demonstrating the power of cocoa, giving delegates the chance to try chocolate sorbet and an indulgent hot chocolate shot.

Working alongside Visit Scotland, Reel Time Events also provided their own brand of contemporary Scottish entertainment for 1000 VIP guests at the Visit Scotland Expo networking event Scotland in the city, held at Merchants Square in Glasgow.  Performers included the Reel Time Band and Clanadonia.

We have also had the opportunity to help with team building and incentive events for various clients, including a highland games event for BMW/Mini at Dundas Castle, providing the opportunity for the company’s highest achievers to do some networking, while participating in highland games and other typically Scottish activities both inside and out.

Working with various conference partners we have helped deliver opening and closing ceremonies for conferences at the SECC, EICC and AECC, providing everything from whisky tastings, haggis shy and indoor curling as part of the newtorking entertainment to Scottish gala dinner spectaculars.

Our weddings business has been equally as exciting and varied, and we have been lucky enough to help many couples celebrate their special day, from providing pipers at premier locations across the country to evening entertainment for the reception to help celebrate the day in style.  The Reel Time Band, Scraggly Cats and Tartanium have all been part of creating a real impact for wedding guests with their fresh and funky twist on Scottish music, along with more traditional ceilidh, function and jazz bands.  With events at Dalmahoy Country and Golf Club, Mansfield Traquair, Fairmont St Andrews and The Hub, Reel Time Events has worked with some of the most prestigious venues in Scotland. The Teepee wedding in the grounds of the stunning Cluny Castle in Aberdeen was a particularly memorable event this year, for being that little bit more unusual, with the wedding taking place in a traditional teepee in the fairytail setting of the castle.   Roddy the Piper has also travelled to Germany and Egypt to provide a Reel Time taste of Scotland for weddings in foreign lands.

Virgin Atlantic Brand Event

Last week Reel Time Events organised pipers to lead guests from the Radisson and the Missoni Hotel up The Royal Mile to Virgin Atlantic’s brand event.

Pipers were branded with Virgin Atlantic banners attached to their drones. Once all the guests reached The Hub one of the pipers addressed the haggis. This was followed by a dance performance by traditional highland dancers.

After this The Reel Time Ceilidh Band played some upbeat traditional Scottish tunes to get the guests dancing; the dances were called to give instructions to guests who were new to the Ceilidh dance steps.

At intervals, some of the 150 evening guests attended the branded photobooth organised by Reel Time Events to capture the moment!

Alongside the evening’s entertainment, the Reel Time Bar set up two branded bars for Virgin Atlantic.

On Monday Reel-Time Bars set up a V.I.P Cocktail Bar as a reception for the VOWS Awards (Voted Outstanding Wedding Supplier).

Held in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange the VOWS Awards followed a Vegas casino theme; Mark and his team set up a Pop-Up Bar with a red and black façade.

Serving over 250 guests the Cocktail Bar was busy for the nominees and sponsors drinks reception; Mark and his four friendly bar staff were on hand to keep guests entertained. Guests in typical roulette style were given two choices: Red or Black. Sponsored by Diageo.

Red: Johnnie Walker Red Label. Aromatic bitters, fresh lime juice, churned over crushed ice and topped with ginger beer with a garnish of mint.

Black: Johnnie Walker Black Label. Fresh pineapple, fresh lime juice, vanilla syrup, fresh orange juice, churned over crushed ice and garnished with a pineapple leaf and orange slice.

The evening was a great success bringing together Scottish wedding suppliers and assembled ‘glitterati’ from all across Scotland to congratulate industry leaders and innovators.  We would like to congratulate all winners who picked up a coveted Scottish wedding industry Award last night.

Event Cocktail Production: Reel Time Bars set up another fantastic pop-up bar at yesterday’s Actuarial Conference at the EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre).

Located in the heart of Edinburgh the EICC is an ideal location for a conference and its futuristic hydraulic moving floors allow the venue to be transformed.

Reel Time Bars provided over 1000 cocktails for this conference serving 500 delegates. Well accustomed to large events Reel Time were able to quench the thirst of every attendee efficiently; Mark and his 10 members of staff were on hand to make sure every actuary enjoyed a variety of cocktails.

Serving up Malt Whisky and Scottish Gin Cocktails Reel Time Bars helped conjure up a taste of Scottish culture mixing ingredients to emphasise their distinct flavours.

After a great evening’s entertainment Mark and his team were able to exit the EICC using the car park (which also uses a rotating floor!)

Mark and his team were on hand to set up and run one of Reel Time’s Pop Up Bars. After a quick setup Mark was ready to serve new visitors, staff and managers at the store refreshing drinks from the unique and stylish Pop Up Bar; with a white façade backlit by a range of colourful lights the bar neatly fitted Waitrose’s white concept store image.

Situated at the entrance to the Clyde, the new store is the 300^th Waitrose store in the UK and Reel Time’s friendly bar staff helped to serve customers creating a sense of occasion for this fantastic event.

Reel Time was impressed by the new store with its neat layout and clean, inviting interior and hopes to return to Waitrose in the future.

Reel Time Events is a whisky tasting company based in Edinburgh.  We were asked to put on a Whisky tasting for a health and safety conference dinner.
We arrived at the Hilton in Glasgow while the guests were enjoying their dinner.
Setting up the Whisky stations in a room adjacent to the dining guests.
The guests enjoyed a short presentation by Whisky writer and poet, Robin Laing, who explained the nosing technique and why Whisky was good for their health and safety!

We had 3 different tasting stations set up, with the three experts talking to the guests about the different drams available.
The clients enjoyed the event, and thought it added a great Scottish element to the first night of their conference.

The event organiser from the law firm brief was to create a choice menu of 10 cocktails to tickle the guest’s tipples. They wanted this to feel like a style bar.  We designed our cocktail list based around three main styles of cocktail – shaken, built and stirred – all of which were guaranteed to truly wow the guests!  We also wanted to give the guests a bit of a show, so we brought in some of Scotland’s best mixologists, bar flairs and service staff, mixed them with some artful mood lighting and brought the taste-bud tantalizing creations to life!
