Soul music is party music. It's dance music with energy and emotion. It's a blend of musical styles going back to the black workers of America's deep south.
One of the first musical styles to mix black, Creole and white music was jazz, and by the 1930s big-band swing-jazz had become America's most popular dance music. In the '40s some jazz bands started playing what was to be bebop and cool jazz for concertgoers. Others developed a more up-tempo dance music - the "jumping jive" - adding electric instruments and accentuating the rhythms.
We are an exciting, all-live 9-piece soul band with a big sound, who consistently deliver memorable and professional performances for wedding receptions, corporate functions and private parties.
We perform Soul, Rhythm & Blues and Motown classics from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and the Blues Brothers mixed in with the funk of James Brown and the great performers from the Stax label such as Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and Otis Redding. We can cover modern classics too with an Amy Winehouse medley. Music that's guaranteed to make your event an all-out success with your guests!
Our usual line up, is a horn section, with a back line of keys, bass, drums and guitar and vocals.
